Media Bins
The Media Bins are shown at the bottom of the Media Manager panel. The contents of the currently selected bin are shown along with a summary list of all bins. A media bin can be selected from the summary list with the left mouse button.
File based clips are shown in the Media Bin with a teal surround, video based clips with a purple surround. The "All Media" pulldown can be used to only show file-based or video-based clips.
The thumbnail for a clip is taken from the first frame of the clip. With a clip selected, you can press, hold and drag with right mouse button to scrub through the clip in-situ, essentially changing the location from where the thumbnail is taken from. A yellow bar is drawn at the top of the thumbnail to show from where in the clip the thumbnail is taken.
By default the clips are sorted in alphabetic order based on clip name. Pressing the right mouse button when no item is selected pops up a context menu allowing you to change the way in which clips are ordered.
Some operations on clips are only allowed when the clip is not being used by any other part of the application. Clips can be "in-use" for numerous reasons, for example, it's undergoing batch processing, it's being cut, and as such it can be difficult to know which part of the application is using a clip.
Pressing the right mouse button when no item is selected pops up a context menu. The first item of this menu, "Show 'in-use' overlay", can help with the above situation. When this item is ticked clips are shown with an overlay which indicates whereabouts, if anywhere, the clip is being used.
User-attributes are set in the Worklist and are fully described elsewhere in this manual. The Media Bins can display an overlay showing which user-attribute has been set for each clip. Pressing the right mouse button when no item is selected pops up a context menu. The second item in this list, "Show user-attribute overlay", allows for the user-attribute of each clip to be clearly seen.
To help keep track of what operations have been applied to what clips little coloured squares, called indicators, are shown at the top of each clip's thumbnail.
Colour | Indicates that the clip... |
---|---|
Purple | Has at least one effect present |
Yellow | Has notes present |
