Network configuration
The PFBucketd server daemon communicates with the PFBucket desktop app and client workstations on your local network using standard TCP/IP sockets over the following ports:
Description | Port |
---|---|
The network port on which PFBucketd listens for entitlement requests from applications running on client workstations | 8070 |
The network port on which PFBucketd communicates with the PFBucket desktop app and application launchers running on client workstations | 8071 |
The network port on which PFBucketd listens for broadcast messages from applications running on client workstations that are searching for a PFBucketd server | 46137 |
If required, you can change these port numbers using a configuration file.
Linux/macOS
On Linux and macOS, the configuration is set using the file /etc/pfbucketd.conf
. The file format is a simple key/value format, with each line specifying the parameter to change, and the value it requires.
Parameter | Description | Default |
---|---|---|
port | The network port on which PFBucketd listens for entitlement requests from applications running on operator workstations | 8070 |
webport | The network port on which PFBucketd communicates with the PFBucket desktop app and application launchers running on client workstations | 8071 |
broadcastport | The network port on which PFBucketd listens for broadcast messages from applications running on operator workstations that are searching for a PFBucketd server | 46137 |
Windows 10
The configuration on Windows 10 is managed via the registry editor. All configuration keys and entries are found in the following location within the Windows registry:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\The Pixel Farm\PFBucketd
The table below lists the valid registry keys which can be used.
Parameter | Type | Description | Default Value |
---|---|---|---|
port | DWORD | The network port on which PFBucketd listens for entitlement requests from applications running on operator workstations | 8070 |
webport | DWORD | The network port on which PFBucketd communicates with the PFBucket desktop app and application launchers running on client workstations | 8071 |
broadcastport | DWORD | The network port on which PFBucketd listens for broadcast messages from applications running on operator workstations that are searching for a PFBucketd server | 46137 |
Network Proxies
Please note that the PFBucketd server daemon does not support communication through a network proxy between the server and client workstations.
Virtual Machines
We do not recommend or support the use of virtual machines or similar to run the PFBucketd server daemon. If such virtual machines are used, errors may be encountered that prevent entitlements from being activated or used.
