F-Curve Editor and Dope-Sheet
The F-Curve Editor and Dope-Sheet provide additional controls to assist in manipulating effect parameters and data. Clicking the
The vertical white line in the editors shows the position of the current frame. To change this, click and drag the white line with the left mouse button. The vertical blue lines indicate the start and end of the clip's processing range.
To pan the visible region in the F-Curve editor or Dope-Sheet, click and drag with the right mouse button in the editor window. To pan in either the horizontal or vertical direction only, hold the Control key before clicking with the right button.
To zoom in or out of the F-Curve editor or Dope-Sheet, click and drag with the middle mouse button. Pressing the Fit button will scale the viewpoint so all F-Curves are visible in the editor. Pressing the Dope-Sheet button will switch to the Dope-Sheet editor.
Parameter Selection
Every parameter that is available for editing in the F-Curve Editor and Dope-Sheet is shown in the parameter list on the left of the editor.
To display a curve in the editor, click the check-boxes next to the parameter names. Once a curve is displayed, it can be selected for editing by highlighting the parameter name (click with the left mouse button). Multiple curves can be selected at the same time by holding the Shift or Control keys whilst clicking on the parameter names. To show all/none of the parameters at the same time, press the Show All/None button. To select all/none of the displayed curves for editing at the same time, press the Edit All/None button.
Note: The F-Curve editor and Dope-Sheet will display parameters associated with the last editor that was used. If no curves are visible, switch to the desired editor and then back to the F-Curve editor to ensure the correct parameters are displayed.
F-Curve editing
Once a parameter is selected for editing, moving the mouse along the curve will show the current parameter value for each frame underneath the editor window. Control vertices can be adjusted by clicking and dragging with the left mouse button. After each vertex is adjusted, the effect will be updated accordingly in the Cinema.
To select multiple vertices at the same time, use the left mouse button to draw a selection rectangle in the editor window. If multiple vertices are selected as one is moved, all will be moved in the vertical direction only.
To set the value of any selected vertices, enter a number in the Value edit box and press return. The Value edit box can be changed using the pop-up menu. Changing it to Offset will mean that the value entered into the edit box will be added (or subtracted, for negative numbers) from the current value. Scale can be used to scale all values around zero, and Filter will scale all values around their average.
To select all or none of the vertices at the same time, press the All/None button. Pressing the Add button will insert a new vertex at the current frame. The Delete button is used to delete all selected vertices from the curve.
To display Bezier control handles for any selected vertices, press the Bezier button. To hide the handles and make the vertex linear, press the Linear button.
Pressing the Simplify button will attempt to simplify the curve and remove any redundant vertices.
The Smooth button can be used to apply a Gaussian filter to all selected vertices, smoothing the F-Curve. The edit box next to the smooth button can be used to enter the percentage of smoothing (0 indicates no smoothing and 100 indicates maximum smoothing).
The Undo and Redo buttons can be used to undo or redo recent operations. The number of undo and redo levels can be adjusted in the Preferences window.
Dope-Sheet editing
The Dope-Sheep editor works in a similar way to the F-Curve editor described above.
Control vertices are drawn as small rectangles along the timeline, and the in/out duration of each parameter is indicated by the rectangle drawn around the parameter name.
To change the in or out points of a particular parameter, hover the mouse over either end of the parameter block, and the cursor will change. Clicking the left mouse button and dragging the mouse will adjust the in or out point of the parameter.
