The PFBucket desktop app provides the user interface for the PFBucketd server daemon, and allows IT administrators to activate or deactivate entitlement buckets on the server. Additionally, it contains a notification system (1) that informs about updates and other relevant news, facilities to get technical support (4) and report bugs (5) through a direct messaging system, and provides direct access to application installers (6).
The Notifications button displays notifications about product updates and other relevant news.
Notifications can be filtered by clicking on underlined keywords in a message. Click Clear Filter (7) to remove any filters and display all notifications.
A notification can be removed from the list by hovering the mouse over the notification and clicking thein the top right corner.
Accessing PFBucket's functionality requires you to log in with your account type and PFAccount ID, and the name, access code of the bucket you want to manage, and the PFBucketd server IP address or machine name.
When logged in, the Login/Logout page displays this information along with a Logout button.
The Entitlements tab lets you manage entitlement buckets on the PFBucketd server. Buckets can be activated or deactivated on the server by clicking the Activate All or Deactivate All buttons. A bucket must be activated on the server before the entitlements it contains can be used.
If a bucket is active on the server, this page lists the bucket's entitlements, along with information on which client is using an entitlement and when maintenance for the entitlement expires.
If entitlements cannot be found on the server (for example, if activating entitlements failed due to network connectivity issues, or if the server has been re-installed) they can be recovered by clicking the Recover button.
Once a bucket is activated, individual entitlements can be recovered or re-synced by clicking the tick-box next to the entitlement name and clicking one of the buttons at the bottom of the entitlement list (this functionality is not available for Education account holders).
Note: for Education account holders, if additional education subscriptions have been purchased then the bucket must be de-activated and then re-activated in order to use the entitlements provided with the new subscriptions. If the subscription status has changed for any reason (for example, the entitlement expiry dates have changed), then all entitlements will need re-syncing to reflect the new status. To re-sync all entitlements, first deactivate the bucket then re-activate it again by clicking Activate.
The Refresh button can be used to refresh the list of entitlements and ensure it is up to date.
4)Tech Support (
The Tech Support tab lets you request a new technical support ticket or reply to existing tickets. Technical support comprises of assistance with issues related to installing and licensing applications.
5)Bug Reporting (
The Bug Reporting tab lets you report bugs or reply to existing tickets. Bug reporting comprises of reporting possible incorrect behaviour of applications.
The Downloads tab lists links to download the application installers. These are also available for download in the PFAccount Admin Portal at https://pfaccount-thepixelfarm.co.uk.
Close PFBucket. If you are logged in a server when closing PFBucket, you will automatically be logged out.
